Description
The Daniel Defense DD5 V5 is a right-handed, AR-style semi-automatic rifle from the V5 CA Compliant series, configured for long-range precision shooting. Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, it uses a direct-impingement operating system and provides a 10+1 capacity.
Its 20″ cold-hammer-forged barrel falls within the 20″ to 20.99″ barrel-length range. The Daniel Defense proprietary-steel barrel has a chrome-lined bore, heavy black phosphate exterior finish and 1:8 twist. The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle is fitted with a DD Superior Suppression Device. An adjustable Rifle +1 gas system supports gas regulation for suppressed or unsuppressed operation.
CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers wear a black Type III hard-coat-anodized finish, categorized in the Blued/Black metal finish group, and use Daniel Defense’s four-bolt barrel-connection system. The 15″ free-floating aluminum M-LOK handguard provides M-LOK accessory slots, sling QD points and a full-length top Picatinny rail. No sights are supplied, leaving the rifle optic ready for the shooter’s preferred sighting system.
The DD5 V5 has a mil-spec trigger, a safety-selector switch, fully ambidextrous controls and a flared magazine well. Black furniture includes a six-position Daniel Defense glass-filled polymer stock with SoftTouch overmolding and a standard grip configuration. Overall length adjusts from 38.38″ to 41.63″. Its approximate 8.90-pound unloaded weight places it within the 8-pound to 8.99-pound weight range. The bolt-carrier group has a DLC coating.
This California-compliant configuration prevents operation of the magazine release while the assembled rifle is closed. Pulling the cord-equipped extended rear takedown pin separates the upper and lower enough to permit magazine release. This New rifle includes one 10-round PMAG and a full-latch hard-plastic impact case.
