Description
The Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II is a 12.25″ two-piece, free-floating handguard for AR-15 and AR-platform rifles configured with a carbine-length gas system. Developed for the USSOCOM SOPMOD II program, the RIS II provides a continuous top rail and additional Mil-Spec 1913 Picatinny accessory rails.
The handguard is machined from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in Flat Dark Earth with a Mil-Spec Type III hard-coat anodized finish. A steel barrel nut, Grade 8 military-specification fasteners and Daniel Defense’s six-bolt Bolt-Up attachment system secure the assembly to the upper receiver.
Its removable lower rail section is designed to accommodate an M203 grenade launcher without additional mounting parts or special tools. The rail measures 2.23″ wide and 2.25″ high, with a 1.15″ inside diameter. Daniel Defense specifies the MK12 Low Profile Gas Block for installation. This model does not include an integrated sling-swivel attachment point.
