The Hornady Dangerous Game load is centerfire rifle ammunition made for hunting large and dangerous game, including safari use. Hornady model 82631 pairs the 470 Nitro Express cartridge with a 500 gr DGX Bonded projectile.
DGX means Dangerous Game eXpanding Bonded. The bullet has a copper-clad steel jacket bonded to a lead core to resist jacket-and-core separation. It is designed for controlled expansion to approximately 1 1/2 to 2 times its original diameter, deep penetration and high retained weight.
Muzzle Velocity: 2150 fps. Muzzle Energy: 5132 ft lbs. The projectile has a .290 ballistic coefficient and .316 sectional density, and each loaded cartridge uses a brass case.
