The Hornady ELD Match .338 caliber 285 grain bullets are premium match-grade projectiles engineered for long-range competition and precision rifle shooting. Part of Hornady’s flagship ELD (Extremely Low Drag) Match line, these projectiles feature a heat-resistant polymer tip with Hornady’s Heat Shield technology, which holds tip shape through the entire flight to deliver a perfect meplat and repeatable accuracy shot after shot.
ELD Match projectiles are built around a lead core with a copper-plated AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Process) jacket for exceptional concentricity and weight consistency. The secant ogive profile reduces drag and yields a ballistic coefficient of .829, while the sectional density of .356 supports deep penetration and energy retention at extended ranges. Each bullet’s BC is Doppler radar verified and corrected to standard atmospheric conditions.
The 285 grain weight makes these an excellent choice for magnum-class .338 cartridges such as the .338 Win Mag and similar magnum rounds, where long-range precision is the priority. Each projectile is manufactured without a cannelure, giving handloaders full control of seating depth for any precision application. Recommended for target shooting and competition use.
