The Savage A17 Target Thumbhole is a semi-automatic 17 HMR rimfire rifle built around Savage’s patented delayed-blowback action and chambered for the high-velocity 17 HMR cartridge. It feeds through Savage’s proprietary rotary magazine, giving a 10+1 capacity in a slim, target-friendly profile.
Barrel and receiver details are engineered for precision. The rifle wears a 22-inch button-rifled heavy fluted barrel in a 1:9 twist, mated to a high-luster drilled and tapped carbon steel receiver finished in black. Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger provides a clean, crisp break out of the box, while a crossbolt safety sits behind the receiver. The action uses a hard-chrome bolt for long-term durability with the high-pressure 17 HMR round.
A right-hand satin gray thumbhole laminate stock anchors the A17 Target, providing a stable target-shooting platform, repeatable hand position, and resistance to warping under field conditions. The rifle ships without iron sights, allowing the shooter to mount optics or a red-dot directly to the receiver’s drilled-and-tapped pattern. Total weight is 7.08 lbs with an overall length of 41.50 inches, and the metalwork carries a black finish across the barreled action.
